Broadcasters, hikers also among groups meeting decision makers
Advocates from a wide range of associations—including groups representing rural water systems, physical education teachers and technology companies—will visit congressional offices this week. Some highlights:
More than 140 technology executives and business owners are expected at the TechAmerica DC Fly-In, organized by TechAmerica, the public policy and advocacy arm of CompTIA, and the Technology Councils of North America. The event kicks off Tuesday with a tech policy summit.
The Rural Water Rally will culminate Wednesday with The Great American Water Taste Test finals. Entries in the national competition have already won contests for the best drinking water held by state associations affiliated with the National Rural Water Association.
About 122 people from 38 states are expected for Wednesday's SPEAK Out! Day, organized by SHAPE America—Society of Health and Physical Educators. One of the major asks: designate health and physical education as core academic subjects in federal law.
Also this week: Members of the American Hiking Society and the Partnership for the National Trails Association will "Hike the Hill." The National Association of Broadcasters will hold its annual fly-in for radio group executives. The Association of Community College Trustees and the National Association for the Support of Long Term Care will hold conferences and make Hill visits.
